Cellular Neurophysiology

Principal Investigator: Eric Hanse

In our research we are using electrophysiological methods to study different aspects of electrical signalling in the brain. We are examining how synapses change their signalling properties in relation to brain development, learning and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s disease.

We are particularly interested in so called silent synapses and how they are involved in brain development, learning and brain disease. Another special interest is how healthy, and pathological, cerebrospinal fluid affects signalling in the brain.
