At the unit of Metabolic Physiology, led by Professor Patrik Rorsman (FRS), we perform high-quality research within the area of metabolic health and disease.

The unit consists of four independent research teams: The Skibicka, the Wernstedt Asterholm, the Olofsson and the Rorsman lab. The collective knowledge within our unit allows us to combine high resolution optical and biophysical techniques with in vivo investigations, behavioral studies and traditional biochemical and molecular biology techniques.

Our research spans over a large area of metabolic physiology comprising regulation of hormone exocytosis in endocrine pancreas and white adipocytes, brain mechanisms controlling feeding behavior as well as metabolic regulation at the whole-body level.
