UserAge user participation in research about and with frail older people

The aim of this project is to explore the potential for, and challenges with, involving frail older people as partners in the research process. The aim is also to explore how challenges can be bridged.

The project has a qualitative approach and is divided into two parts that will apply research about and with user participation to explore how to make the voices of frail older people heard, and to visualise opportunities and barriers for frail older people to participate in and be involved in research on ageing and health. Frail older people will be involved in the project, together with their relatives, health and social care staff and researchers, in order to get a complete picture of user participation in research about and with frail older people.

The project is expected to lead to a deeper understanding of user participation in research about and with frail older people. The project is also expected to lead to effective communication and application of research findings. The goal is to summarise the qualitative findings to guidelines for user participation in research about and with frail older people, and to test these guidelines in intervention research.
